CARLISLE COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A man is accused of giving Carlisle County inmates meth, THC vapes and pre-paid cell phones.

Tony Adams, 44, of Milburn faces three counts of three counts of promoting contraband 1st degree, trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense (less than 2 grams methamphetamine), possession of controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Casey Adams faces one count of complicity to promoting contraband 1st Degree.

At the time, Adams was an employee of the Carlisle County Road Department.

An investigation revealed that between June 11 and August 8, Adams and his wife Casey Adams received numerous Cash App deposits from family members of Class D inmates that were in custody at the Ballard County Jail.

Sheriff’s deputies say Adams would then use a debit card to withdraw the deposits and then purchase THC vapes, pre-paid cell phones and cell phone minutes for inmates on his work detail.

A deposit was made to the Cash App account with a specific inmate’s name in the notes for $30 on August 2.

The $30 was for the purchase of methamphetamine, according to Carlisle County Sheriff’s deputies. A witness said he/she saw Adams give the inmate a bag of meth. The inmate who received the meth tested positive during a drug screen at the Ballard County Jail.

During the investigation, video surveillance was obtained from a local Dollar General that shows Adams purchasing a pre-paid cell phone card. The receipt from that transaction and the phone the minutes were added to, was found in a Class D cell inside the Ballard County Jail. Jailers also found THC vapes that are alleged to have come from inmates on Adams detail.

Adams was arrested by Sheriff Eric Perry and Chief Deputy Ben Green while at work on August 8 around 11:15 a.m.

They say they found a small quantity of methamphetamine in his wallet.

Chief Deputy Ben Green interviewed Adams. They say he confessed that he and his wife were receiving deposits via Cash App and that he would then purchase vapes, phones and phone minutes.

When confronted about the methamphetamine deputies say Adams stated the meth the inmate obtained came from him, but he didn’t sell it. He said the inmate allegedly stole his meth.

Deputies say Adams then changed his story to say it was not his meth, but he did allow the inmates to use his cell phone to arrange a drug deal.

They say he admitted that he drove the inmates to meet a drug dealer where a transaction was conducted.

Adams employment was terminated immediately by the Carlisle County Road Department.

The Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this investigation by investigators from the Ballard County Jail.

Casey Adams was cited and released.
