Man arrested, accused of stealing scrap air-conditioning units

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A man faces a theft charge after sheriff’s deputies say he unlawfully took scrap air-conditioning units from a business.

Mark McDowell, 62, of Hopkinsville faces a charge of theft by unlawful taking between $1,000 and $10,000.

Early in the morning on Tuesday, August 27, McCracken County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle near Lee’s Heating and Air on Clark River Road.

McDowell was driving a white Dodge truck that was of interest in a recent theft. With assistance from the public, McDowell was located and identified.

He is accused of unlawfully taking scrap AC units from Lee’s Heating and Air over a few weeks.

McDowell was taken to the McCracken County Jail.

This case is an ongoing investigation. Sheriff’s deputies say more charges are pending.
