Man arrested after gunfire strikes vehicle in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — A 20-year-old man was arrested after gunfire struck a vehicle during a social gathering in Carbondale, police said.

Carbondale police responded to the 900 block of East Park Street around 1:50 a.m. Sept. 7 following a report of shots fired.

Officers determined the shooting followed a brief disturbance among people attending the gathering. One person suffered a minor injury from broken glass caused by the gunfire.

Police identified the suspect as Miguel A. Brown of Carbondale. Brown was later arrested on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Brown was taken to the Jackson County Jail, where he is being held pending a detention hearing.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
