Man arrested after reporting fake home invasion incident

SALEM, Ky. (KBSI) – A man was found to be in possession of a firearm and drugs alleging he had experienced a home invasion.

According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office on November 12, 2024, around 8:20 am deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Salem, Kentucky, following a report of a home invasion.

The report was allegedly made by 35-year-old Steven Cummings, who lives in Salem.

When deputies arrived, they saw Steven Cummings outside his home armed with a loaded handgun.

After investigating the alleged home invasion, deputies determined that the reported incident was unfounded.

Further investigation revealed that Cummings was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Cummings was arrested and faces multiple offenses, including falsely reporting an incident that generates an emergency response, public intoxication, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with a firearm enhancement, and failure to notify the Department of Transportation of an address change.

Cummings was taken to the McCracken County Jail.
