CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A Cape Girardeau man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he stabbed an adult and held several children hostage during a domestic incident early Sunday morning.

Officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department were dispatched around 2:43 a.m. to the 1100 block of South Pacific Street following reports of a stabbing and an armed suspect inside a residence.

When officers arrived, they located an adult victim who had fled the home with two children, ages 2 and 4. The victim reported that the suspect, identified as David Sueing Jr., 40, remained inside the residence armed with a knife and was refusing to release additional children.

Police attempted to enter the home but said Sueing barricaded the door. Officers observed Sueing holding a knife to the throat of an 8-year-old child through an opening in the door. Officers forced entry and deployed a Taser, causing Sueing to drop the weapon. He continued to resist arrest before being taken into custody.

Inside the home, officers found an adult male suffering from a stab wound to the chest. He was transported by ambulance to a hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. A 10-year-old child was also treated for a non-life-threatening cut to the wrist. Police said six juveniles were held hostage during the incident.

Sueing was charged through the Cape Girardeau County Prosecutor’s Office with first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, five counts of second-degree kidnapping, unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting arrest. He is being held without bond.

All charges are accusations, and Sueing is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
