Man arrested after telling police God makes him take meth

METROPOLIS, Ill. (KBSI) – Metropolis officers arrested a man after they were called for a disturbance on October 26.

Travis C. Blanton 31, of Metropolis faces charges of disorderly conduct, aggravated battery, resisting/obstructing arrest and reckless conduct.

Officers responded to Security Drive where they say Blanton was behaving irrationally and groping a female. When told to stop, he punched an officer in the face, according to a post on the Metropolis Police Department Facebook page.

A taser was used on Blanton. Police say he told officers that God makes him take meth.

He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance where police say he headbutted a paramedic on the way and kicked another at the hospital.

After being discharged from the hospital he was taken to Massac County Detention Center.
