On October 14 at 1:44 a.m. Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Diederich and Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies patrolled 903 W. Cherry Street in an unmarked William County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle.

Two people were seen standing in a stairwell on the northeast side of Zion United Church of Christ, according to the sheriff’s office.

After investigation, hypodermic syringes and other drug paraphernalia containing methamphetamine were found among his belongings, according to the sheriff’s office.

After being advised of being under arrest, Simmons refused to put his hands behind his back but was handcuffed.

Simmons was asked to stand so deputies could search him. As he was standing Sheriff Diederich noticed him toss an item backwards in the grass. It was a glass smoking device, with a white crystal-like residue which later tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies saw Simmons attempt to open a piece of paper suspected to contain illegal narcotics.

Simmons was rolled onto his stomach and after his hands were seen empty deputies found the paper on the ground. The paper contained 1.45 grams of methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.
