Man arrested on child pornography charge

PALATINE, Ill., (KBSI) — David E. Edwards, 54, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, was arrested Monday by Palatine police on a Jefferson County arrest warrant charging him with child pornography.

Edwards was taken to the Palatine Police Department and later transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he awaits a pre-trial detention hearing.

The arrest warrant was issued after an investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division, which is part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The investigation began July 14 after a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, leading to search warrants for electronic devices and Edwards’ home, and the seizure of evidence.

Edwards is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
