Man arrested on multiple felony arrest warrants in New Madrid

NEW MADRID, Mo. (KBSI) – A New Madrid man faces domestic asssault, drug and driving without a license charges.

Officers with the New Madrid Police Department arrived at a house on Mill Street in New Madrid in an attempt to arrest a person with numerous felony arrest warrants.

Upon arrival, officers located the suspect and commanded him to come to them.

Police say the suspect refused commands and ran from the house.

Pursuing officers were able to maintain a visual on the suspect as he ran south, across the levee, and into the wooded area of Cottonwood Park.

Numerous officers from multiple agencies converged on the park, located just east of New Madrid’s Observation Deck and Main Street.

Officers were able to take the suspect into custody without issue.

The suspect was identified as Thomas L. Jackson, 47, of New Madrid.

Mr. Jackson’s warrants include domestic assault 3rd degree – felony, possession of a controlled substance – felony and operating motor vehicle without valid license – felony.
