Man charged in Cape Girardeau robbery, vehicle theft case

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A man has been charged in connection with a robbery and vehicle theft reported in Cape Girardeau, according to a probable cause statement.

Police said the incident occurred around 3:49 a.m. March 27, when a victim reported being approached by a suspect while stopped at an intersection after dropping off coworkers.

According to the report, the suspect struck the driver’s window with what was believed to be a handgun, ordered the victim out of the vehicle and used pepper spray before taking two cell phones.

The suspect then allegedly used one of the phones to complete a $90 transaction through a mobile payment app.

Authorities said the suspect then stole the victim’s vehicle, a 2024 Buick Encore, and fled the scene. The vehicle was later recovered.

During a follow-up investigation, the victim identified Felix Fe’Jay Cambelle as the suspect through a photo lineup, according to court documents.

Cambelle faces charges including first-degree robbery and stealing a motor vehicle. The case remains under investigation.
