STEELE, Mo. (KBSI) – A man was convicted of a 2020 murder in Steele on Thursday.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced that his office obtained a second-degree murder conviction against Sean Kotalik in Pemiscot County for the December 24, 2020 murder of Christopher “Steveo” Randolph.

“I hope that this guilty verdict brings Mr. Randolph’s family a measure of peace,” said Attorney General Bailey said. “As Attorney General, I will use every legal tool at my disposal to keep Missouri streets safe by prosecuting crime to the fullest extent of the law.”

On Christmas Eve, 2020, Randolph was at a bar in Steele waiting for his family to return home so they could celebrate Christmas. While Mr. Randolph waited, Sean Kotalik and his step-son Caleb Holland entered the bar.

A short time later, Kotalik and Holland beat Randolph while he laid defenseless on a pool table, according to the Missouri Attorney General’s Office.

Kotalik and Holland left the the scene. Randolph died from his injuries.

On Friday, May 31, a Peimscot County jury deliberated for a little more than an hour before returning a guilty verdict on the sole charge of second-degree murder.

Several members of Randolph’s family were in attendance as the jury’s verdict was announced.

Kotalik will be sentenced on July 11.

Holland was convicted in 2023 of first-degree involuntary manslaughter for his participation.
