Man dies in house fire in Williamsville

WILLIAMSVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) – A man died after a house fire in Williamsville Saturday morning.

Williamsville Fire Chief Bobby Hillis says firefighters were called to a fire at a single story home on 2nd Street at 6:02 a.m. on Saturday, March 23.

Crews arrived on scene at 6:05 a.m. to a home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters found Michael E. Russell, 70, of Williamsville.

A next door neighbor called in the fire. That neighbor had damage to his mobile home, but fire crews were able to save the home.

An investigator is coming Wednesday to investigate the cause of the fire.

Two pumper trucks and 11 firefighters fought the fire. Crews were on scene until about 10:30-11 a.m.

Fire Chief Hillis says this is the first house fire death in Williamsville since he’s worked there for 34 years.
