Man drowns in Current River in Doniphan

DONIPHAN, Mo. (KBSI) – A Poplar Bluff man drowned in the Current River on Sunday.
Edward D. Neal, 47, was swimming in the Current River at the Current River Bridge in Doniphan on Sunday, August 25 when he began struggling, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
It happened around 4:10 p.m.
Neal became unconcious. He was pronounced dead a Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at 5:18 p.m.
This is the third drowning of 2024 for the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop E region in Misouri.
