Man faces charges after reports of armed robbery in Marion

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – A man faces multiple charges after Marion police responded to reports of an armed robbery on November 16.
Police met with a store clerk at ROC One Stop at 309 E. DeYoung Street who said he was robbed by a man with a knife who took an undisclosed amount of money.
Officers searched in the direction the suspect ran away and K-9s were deployed, according to Marion Police Department.
Demarco V. Stokes, 28, of Belvidere, Ill. was seen near Lincoln School and matched the description of the the suspect. Police a knife and some money was found on Stokes.
He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
Stokes faces charges of aggravated robbery, armed robbery and aggravated assault.
The investigation is still ongoing.
