Man faces charges after reports of threats with knife in Williamson County

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – A man faces charges after Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a man threatening another with a knife.

Josh S. Colburn faces charges of aggravated assault and obstructing identification.

He was found walking on Binkley Road with a knife with a sheath on his hip on November 11 at 7:13 p.m, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies say he refused to identify himself and remained uncooperative.

After removing the knife he was searched and a small black cylinder item was located in his back right pocket which Colburn claimed was pepper spray for his protection, according to the sheriff’s office.

Colburn did not have any identification on him and sheriff’s deputies say he continued to refuse to identify himself while remaining aggressive and rude.

After a third attempt to identify him deputies arrested him for obstructing identification.

After talking to the victim at his home, he stated that the man seen by deputies walking on Binkley Road had pulled a knife and made threats toward him, according to Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Colburn was taken to the Williamson County Jail and on the way was verbally aggressive, according to sheriff’s deputies.

During processing, authorties say he refused to comply with directions and was restrained in a chair.

He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
