Man faces drug charge after traffic stop in Johnston City

JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. (KBSI) – A man faces a drug charge after a traffic stop early Friday morning.

Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies saw a vehicle speeding on Broadway Boulevard near Trout Avenue in Johnston City around 2:04 a.m. on June 28.

Kyle M. Levine faces charges of possession of controlled substance and speeding.

A deputy pulled the driver over. Then, the Johnston City Police Department K9 unit arrived on scene and did a free air sniff. The K9 provided a positive alert ot the smell of narcotics.

Police searched the vehicle and say they found Alprazolam which is a Schedule 4 controlled substance. Police say they also found a small amount of cannabis in an aluminum Altoids can.

Levine was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
