Man facing aggravated battery after sheriff’s deputies called to American Legion post

ORIENT, Ill. (KBSI) – A Marion, Ill. man faces an aggravated battery charges after sheriff’s deputies responded to an American Legion Post in Orient.
Charles S. Ligon, 32, faces a charge of aggravated battery (Class 3 felony).
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was requested by West Frankfort Ambulance/Fire personnel to respond to the American Legion Post in Orient on March 14 around 9 p.m.
Someone was reported that a someone had potentially been battered and was being treated for significant injuries.
Deputies responded and began investigating.
As a result of the viewing of security camera footage, a suspect in the battery was soon developed.
Officers from the Marion Police Department found the suspect at his home in Marion.
Ligon was taken to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim is being treated at a regional hospital for significant injuries.
