MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A man faces assault and other charges after sheriff’s deputies say he stabbed his mother in McCracken County.
John Taber, 21, of Paducah faces charges of assault 2nd domestic violence, two counts of menacing, wanton endangerment 1st degree (police officer), resisting arrest and disorderly conduct 2nd degree.
A McCracken County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the 300 block of Oaks Road for a physical disturbance around 3:14 p.m. on Monday, July 15.
As the deputy was arriving, he saw a man threatening a woman with a large knife.
As soon as the deputy got out of his vehicle, the deputy says Taber began moving toward the deputy with the knife.
After a short time, the deputy, along with other deputies and an officer from Paducah Police Department arrested Taber.
As deputies investigated the origins of the fight, they say Taber had superficially stabbed his mother with the knife.
She was treated and released by Mercy Regional Ambulance Service.
Taber was taken to the McCracken County Jail.
More criminal charges are possible as the investigation continues.
