improper turn and operating uninsured vehicle.
Williamson County sheriff’s deputies saw Wagley Jr. driving a motor vehicle on a public road near the intersection of Herrin Road and Mayor Caliper Drive in Colp on Monday, December 18 around 6:34 p.m.
Wagley was known to deputies from prior law enforcement contacts. They were aware that his Illinois driver’s license was revoked.
Wagley was seen committing multiple violations of the Illinois Vehicle Code, according to the deputies with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
They tried to conduct a traffic stop by activating the vehicles emergency lighting and siren. They say Wagley failed to yield and continued traveling westbound on Dr. Springs Road for about a half mile before turning into a driveway on Dr. Springs Road.
As the vehicle came to a stop, Wagley got out of the driver’s seat, looked back at deputies, and ran away on foot.
Deputies yelled for Wagley to stop, but they say he refused. He ran north into the garage of a home. Once in the garage, Wagley ran toward a door and entered the hom of his neighbor.
Law Enforcement surrounded the home and waited for additional units to arrive.
Deputies on scene were aware that Wagley has an extensive history of resisting, battering, and assaulting law enforcement officials.
Moments later, and with about eight law enforcement officers on scene, deputies entered the home through the front door and saw Wagley sitting in a recliner.
He was ordered to stand up and place his hands behind his back. Deputies say he refused to stand up. The deputies grabbed hold of Wagley and helped him to his feet.
Wagley resisted by attempting to pull away from the deputies. Then they assisted him to the ground.
Deputies say Wagley continued to resist their efforts to arrest him.
They say while they tried to handcuff Wagley he continued to resist by keeping his right arm under his torso while rolling from his stomach to his right side and kicking at them.
Deputies rolled Wagley to his stomach and grabbed hold of his right forearm. He continued to kick and refused to release his right arm from under his torso after repeatedly being told to do so.
They say he continued to remain non-compliant and combative.
Deputies were eventually able to secure his right arm behind his back and he was handcuffed.
Wagley was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
