MT. VERNON, Ill. (KBSI) – A man faces multiple charges after sheriff’s deputies say he led them on a high speed chase in Mt. Vernon.

Brendan T. Frazier, 22, of Bluford faces charges of aggravated fleeing/attempting to elude a peace officer, felony driving while license suspended, reckless driving and multiple other lesser traffic offenses.

Around 4:45 p.m.. on Tuesday, July 30, a Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol tried to stop a white 2021 Chevy Malibu traveling at a high rate of speed on IL Hwy. 15 near N. Dartmouth Lane.

Sheriff’s deputies say the driver drove south on N. Dartmouth Lane and the deputy chased.

The chase traveled onto Liberty Road, Log Cabin Lane, Lynchberg Road, then to the intersection at Opdyke Lane, which led to the driver of the Malibu and the deputy’s squad truck crashing off the road.

Neither driver was injured.

The deputy’s squad car was able to be driven away from the scene.

Frazier was arrested just moments after the crash and taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center.

The Malibu was towed from the crash site.
