Man facing violation of sex offender registry charge after traffic stop

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A man faces a charge for violation of the sex offender registry after he was pulled over for the traffic stop in Williamson County.

On December 21, 2023, at 17:43 p.m., Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputies traveling in the area of Illinois Route 13 and Interstate 57 saw a 2014 Cadillac commit multiple traffic violations.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Christopher P. Richards.

Richards was found to be driving while license Revoked and to be in violation of sex offender registration requirements.

Richards faces charges of violation sex offender registry (Class 3 felony), driving while license revoked (Class A misdemeanor) and no valid driver’s license (Class A misdemeanor).

Richards was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
