Man from Honduras pleads guilty, sentenced for home invasion in Carbondale

JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A man from Honduras pleaded guilty and was sentenced for home invasion in Jackson County.
Jose Membreno Suate, 27, of Honduras, pleaded guilty to home invasion, a Class X felony. He was sentenced to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on May 15, according to Jackson County State’s Attorney Joseph A. Cervantez.
On March 8, Suate, unlawfully entered a Jackson County resident’s home using a debit card. He was arrested on scene.
Suate admitted to the allegations in an interview following his arrest.
“I am thankful of the great work performed by the Carbondale Police officers and detectives in order to bring this case to a successful conclusion. I am also thankful to the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office for successfully prosecuting this offender who has no ties to the Carbondale community,” said Carbondale Acting City Manager and Chief of Police Stan Reno.
The Carbondale Police Department conducted the investigation.
Assistant State’s Attorney Sophia M. Allen led the office in the prosecution.
