Man rides bike, jumps off roof, arrested for drugs in Paducah

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – A Tennessee man was faces charges after police in Paducah say he ran from them, to the point of jumping from the roof of a building to avoid officers.

Willie Ervin Hunter, 54, of Oak Ridge, Tenn. faces charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of local ordinances.

Officer Coy Dotson tried to stop a man, later identified as Willie Hunter, riding a bicycle at 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 2 without any lights on the bicycle.

Hunter pedaled away from officers. He was found a short time later, climbing a ladder to the roof of a nearby building. He ignored officers’ orders to come down, and jumped onto the roof of an adjacent building.

Police say Hunter jumped off the roof and was arrested by officers on the ground. It happened in the 1600 block of Kentucky Ave.

Officers searched Hunter and found a pipe commonly used to smoke crack cocaine and two rocks of crack cocaine.

Hunter was treated at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital and released.

He was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
