Man sentenced to 18 years for felon in possession of firearm, armed habitual offender

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A man was sentenced to 18 years behind bars for being a felon in possession of a firearm and an armed habitual offender.
On December 14, Honorable Judge Crisel sentenced Brandon Stallings to 18 years in the Department of Corrections.
On January 29 deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office started an investigation into reports of firearms in the possession of Stallings. He had previously been convicted as a felon.
During the investigation, a search warrant for his home was obtained. Numerous firearms were seized.
Stallings was later arrested by the Mount Vernon Police Department. Police recovered another firearm.
He was charged and convicted of possession of firearms by a felon and armed habitual offender.
The Mt. Vernon Police Department and Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s Office assisted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
