Man sentenced to 60 years for sexual assault, battery of 8-month-old baby

HARRISBURG, Ill. (KBSI) – A man was sentenced to 60 years behind bars for sexual assault and battery of an eight-month-old baby.
Tylar D. Lewis was sentenced to 60 yeasr in the lllinois Department of Corrections for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated battery of a child.
He must also register as a sexual predator for life.
The two week trial concluded in August.
In January 2018, Lewis bit, burned and sexually assault an eight-month-old child, according to Saline County State’s Attorney Molly Wilson. Lewis left multiple bruises, cigarette burns and bit marks all over the child’s body, according to Wilson.
The jury also heard evidence that he cause tearing and bleeding injuries to the child’s mouth and genitals.
“[a]s a strong advocate for children, I have made cases involving crimes against children a priority for law enforcement in Saline County. These types of atrocious acts against children, like those committed by Tyler Lewis, will not be tolerated in Saline County, and those perpetrators will be fiercely and tirelessly prosecuted to the fullest textent of the law,” said Saline County State’s Attorney Molly Wilson.
