MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – A man with multiple out of state warrants and a local warrant was arrested at a truck stop parking lot in Charleston, Mo.

Cory Powell, 33, of Dorr, Michigan, was arrested at Flying Jay truck stop parking lot in Charleston on June 7 by the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol and the United States Marshals Service.

Powell had warrants out of Michigan, and Mississippi County, Mo. non-support arrears, for $2,819 out of Kalamazoo County, Michigan for child abuse 2nd degree, out of Allegan County, Michigan for $100,000 cash/surety, and local charges for unlawful possession of a firearm for $25,000 cash/surety.

“The arrest of Powell is another step in protecting our community from those who would come here hiding out to avoid their consequences. And pose a potential threat to the safety and well-being of our citizens here in Mississippi County,” said Sheriff Ferrell in a post on the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. “We are grateful for the dedication and teamwork of our partnering agencies, and, once again, tips from concerned citizens helped contribute to a successful arrest.”
