Marine Corps League hosts first annual chili fundraiser
CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. (KBSI) – Marine veterans hosted their first chili supper at The National Guard Armory.
“We’re just wanting to feed some people, eat some Marine Corps-style chili, and raise some money,” said Marine Corps member Matthew Anders.
Which he says the traditional fundraisers the organization hosted for the last 22 years has been great. However, the league welcomes the community to stop through and show support, to ramp up donations for a new building and assistance for fellow veterans.
“We help out the veterans at the Veterans Home, we help veterans in distress, we help Marines coming out of active-duty service transition back into civilian life,” said Anders.
The event was open to the public and $10 general admission gave attendees access endless amounts of chili.
