MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – Marion city officials warn residents of a scam.

People have been going door-to-door, falsely claiming to represent Homefield Energy, and persuading homeowners to opt out of the Homefield Electric Aggregation Agreement, according to a post on the city’s Facebook page.

These people are not affiliated with Homefield Energy.

Residents are urged to thoroughly review all materials presented to them before signing any documents.

Ask to see the solicitor’s official city permit.

If anyone feels unsafe, threatened, or encounters a solicitor who appears to be acting fraudulently, take note of their appearance and their vehicle’s details, then immediately contact the City of Marion, Illinois Police Department at the non-emergency number of 618-993-2124.
