Marion, IL elementary school receives $5K in gift cards to feed families

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – An elementary school in Marion received a donation of $5000 in gift cards to help feed families.
Owner of Andersons furniture and mattress Lowell Anderson and his family are helping feed families in need for the third year in a row. This year they are gifting 50 families with a gift card to Kroger in hopes that it will help families be able to provide a thanksgiving dinner. Anderson gave the gift cards worth $5,000 to John Fletcher, the Principal of Lincoln Elementary school to be handed out.
“We just know that we try to help the community as much as we can. We know there’s a lot of need out there, Says Lowell, especially because this year seems to be a lot more needy than previous years so were doing the best that we can.”
The Andersons will also be handing out 10,000 meals to food banks throughout the Southern Illinois area.
“We have another project going this Saturday. Its no child left behind were sending out hundreds of food products to the local food pantries here in the area.”
The Andersons will be preparing the food and packing on November 11th from 11- 1 and will be delivering to Marion, Herrin and Carterville foodbanks on November 14th.
All help is appreciated.
