Marion, IL man facing drug, weapons charges in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Marion, Illinois man faces drug and weapons charges after a vehicle stop in Carbondale.

Carbondale police officers stopped a vehicle with suspended license plates in the 600 block of East Grand Avenue on April 20 at 11:42 p.m.

During the stop, officers learned the driver, Bernard B. Cole, 40, of Marion, Ill. had a suspended driver’s license.

While he was arrested, police say Cole was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm and a controlled substance.

Cole faces charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance and driving while license suspended.

He was taken to the Jackson County Jail.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
