Marion, KY man arrested after 18 year old killed in hit and run in Calvert City

CALVERT CITY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Marion, Ky. man faces charges after a hit and run that killed an 18-year-old woman on Aug. 1.

Raymond E. Jarvis, 45, of Marion, Ky. was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid with death or serious physical injury on Aug. 3.

The arrest stems from the investigation of a deadly crash collision involving Mercedeys R. Culligan on Tuesday morning.

Jarvis was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer on Oak Park Boulevard that struck Mercedeys who was a pedestrian on Oak Park Boulevard around 5:39 a.m. on Aug. 1, according to the Calvert City Police Department.

A $30,000 reward was being offered in the case.

A person walking near the southbound lane of Oak Park Blvd. was struck by a vehicle. Police say the vehicle left the scene.

Mercedeys R. Culligan, 18, of Calvert City was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marshall County Coroner’s Office.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Calvert City Police Department and Marshall County Coroner’s Office are investigating.

The Calvert City Fire Department helped with traffic control while Oak Park Blvd. was shut down for the preliminary investigation.
