Marion police conduct compliance checks on registered sex offenders

MARION, Ill., (KBSI) — The Marion Police Department, in conjunction with the U.S. Marshal Service, conducted an operation on May 6 to ensure compliance among registered sex offenders living in Marion.

The initiative was part of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act. During the operation, 35 sex offender compliance checks were conducted.

Ten individuals were found to be in violation of their registration requirements, and two were deemed non-compliant. They were arrested and taken to the Williamson County Jail.

The Marion Police Department says it strictly enforces compliance to ensure public safety.
