MARION, Ill. (KBSI) — Authorities searched Marion on Tuesday, Oct. 27, after a truck stolen by an escaped Tennessee inmate serving a life sentence for murder was found behind a local business.
According to the Marion Police Department, officers were notified by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation around 10 a.m. that a vehicle stolen by Jacob Allen Morley, 28, had been spotted in Marion.
Police said a Marion resident recognized the vehicle from a news report about Morley’s escape and contacted the TBI after seeing it parked behind a business.
Marion police responded and located the vehicle, a 2008 Ford F-350 flatbed truck.
Investigators said there was no evidence that Morley was still near the vehicle.
Officers with the Marion Police Department, its Emergency Response Team, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office searched the surrounding area and other parts of Marion for much of Tuesday but did not locate Morley.
Police also investigated a possible lead, but it did not produce any additional evidence or information about his whereabouts.
Morley was serving a life sentence for murder when he escaped from custody in Tennessee.
Authorities said Morley should be considered dangerous, although investigators have no evidence that he is armed.
Anyone who sees Morley is urged not to approach him and to immediately contact the Marion Police Department at 618-993-2124.
