Market House Theatre hosts blood drive

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – Market House Theatre does everything it can to give back to the community, and on Wednesday, it partnered with the American Red Cross for a blood drive.
This is one of two blood drives the theatre hosts annually, and this is the third year they have put on this blood drive.
The blood drive is called the “Play Your Part Blood Drive,” a little play on words to make that theatre connection. It is part of Market House’s brand, which is “We don’t just entertain, we change lives,” and Executive Director Michael Cochron described why the theatre’s involvement in the community is so important.
“We have renovated and restored 11 historic buildings in downtown Paducah. We do the blood drive. We do a lot of different things because our community is very important to us,” he said. “We’re a community theatre, so community is at the heart of everything we do.”
Cochran said another reason why the theatre is so involved in the community is the arts can sometimes be viewed as frivolous and not really a vital part of a community, so one of their missions is to prove that notion to be false.
