Massac County responds to house fire 2 times in one night

MASSAC COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI)- Massac County Fire Protection District and Brook-port Fire responded to a brush fire at Holman Lake.

Upon arrival, they were faced with a fire spreading from a porch to under a house.

The fire was also spreading to the garage and the propane tank.

Massac and Brookport controlled the fire and extinguished the house and porch before major damage was incurred.

Fire crews left the residence around 4:18 pm.

At 9:20 pm, the homeowner called Massac County Dispatch and advised that he had a fire inside his residence.

Upon arrival at the residence, they found a small fire in the wall of the house.

The fire was extinguished; it looked to have started in the electrical outlet of the house.

Upon further investigation, an electrical outlet under the house was damaged during the first fire.

This caused the electrical outlet to short out and caused a fire in the wall of the house.

The fire was contained to the area of origin, with minimal damage to the house.
