Mayfield event to mark U.S. anniversary with tree planting

MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — The City of Mayfield is inviting the public to attend a ceremonial tree planting May 15 at the Mayfield Farmers Market.

Officials said the Laurel Oak Garden Club of Mayfield will plant a tulip poplar, Kentucky’s state tree, in recognition of the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. and is open to the public. Organizers said the planting is intended to honor the nation’s history while symbolizing future growth.
