Mayfield man arrested on DUI, drug charges after traffic stop

MAYFIELD, Ky. (KBSI) — An 18-year-old Mayfield man was arrested after a traffic stop involving a wrong-way driver, according to the Mayfield Police Department.

Officers said the stop occurred April 25 near the intersection of West Water Street and South 11th Street. During the stop, police observed signs that the driver, identified as Jose Castillo, may have been impaired.

Authorities said further investigation led to the discovery of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Castillo was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and no operator’s license.
