Mayfield man faces DUI charges after chase with sheriff’s deputies

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Mayfield man faces charges after sheriff’s deputies say he led them on a chase while drunk.
Christopher Duggins, 40 of Mayfield faces charges DUI 4th or greater offense in ten years with aggravated circumstances, fleeing and evading in a motor vehicle 1st degree, resisting arrest, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle as well as other traffic offenses.
Deputies from the Graves County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of KY 58 East and KY 131 for the report of an extremely impaired driver on Sunday, November 5 at 12:30 p.m.
Deputy Larry Jones found the vehicle and tried to make a traffic stop on it but the driver continued northbound on KY 131, according to deputies with the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.
Duggins continued driving north to the area of Neeley Road where he threw an empty bottle of liquor into the driveway of a home, according to the sheriff’s office.
The vehicle pulled into a home on Neeley Road and the driver refused to exit the vehicle. Then, he began to resist arrest.
A taser was deployed on the driver and he was arrested.
Due to his level of intoxication, Duggins was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center where he was admitted due to having consumed dangerously high levels of alcoholic beverages, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputy Jones was assisted on scene by Deputy Tony Cornwell, Deputy Zach Smith, Graves County Jail Staff and Mayfield/Graves County EMS.
