Mayfield man facing drug charges after traffic stop
GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Mayfield man faces drug charges after a traffic stop Thursday evening.
David Sean Williams, 57, faces charges of trafficking in a 1st degree controlled substance methamphetamine and other offenses.
A Graves Sheriff’s deputy stoped Williams around 7:10 p.m. on August 8 for a traffic offense near the intersection of Hwy. 80 and Hwy. 303.
A Sheriff’s K9 from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office alerted to the presence of narcotics coming from the vehicle.
After the alert and before a search, Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden says Williams said he did have crystal methamphetamine in his vehicle’s glove compartment.
Deputies then found approximately 84 grams of crystal meth as well as US currency suspected as being the proceeds of illegal drug sales.
Crystal methamphetamine is typically sold by the gram for $100 or smaller quantities on the street, according to Sheriff Hayden.
Williams was taken to an out of county detention center.
