Mayfield man facing several charges after traffic stop in McCracken County

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – A Mayfield man faces several charges after a traffic stop early Wednesday morning.

Joshua Williams, 41, faces charges of multiple traffic offenses, DUI 1st offense, reckless driving, menacing, resisting arrest, fleeing or evading police 1st degree (vehicle), fleeing or evading police 1st degree (motor vehicle), wanton endangerment 1st degree, careless driving, possession of methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance 1st degree, criminal mischief 3rd degree, tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Williams was stopped by a Paducah Police officer around 1:49 a.m. on July 26 in the 3900 block of Clarks River Road due to traffic infractions

Williams was not cooperative and appeared to be under the influence, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.

While the vehicle was stopped, a deputy placed a tire deflation device in front of the vehicle if Williams tried to leave in his vehicle.

Williams left the scene, and in so doing, ran over the tire deflation device, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies chased Williams a short distance to Pugh Road, where he abandoned his vehicle and ran on foot before a deputy caught him.

While the deputy was trying to take Williams into custody, he resisted arrest. Officers and deputies were able arrest him.

During the altercation, both Williams and a deputy received non-incapacitating injuries.

It is believed that Williams ingested illegal drugs during the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and then to the McCracken County Jail.
