Mayfield Police Department pays it forward, donates cruisers to Kentucky training academy

MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — The Mayfield Police Department has gifted four police cruisers to the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training, paying forward a generous donation made to them three years ago.
In December 2021, the Lebanon Tennessee Police Department sent the cruisers to Mayfield, replacing half of the police fleet destroyed by a devastating F-4 tornado.
The vehicles were fully serviced and customized with the Mayfield Police Department’s name on the doors ¹.
Lebanon Police Chief Mike Justice’s decision to donate the cruisers was motivated by his department’s own experience with a deadly tornado in March 2020.
The donation helped the Mayfield Police Department continue providing essential services during a difficult time.
Now, with their fleet restored to full strength, the Mayfield Police Department is passing on the goodwill.
The donated cruisers will be used by future recruits at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training’s new campus in Madisonville, Kentucky.
