McCracken County man facing drug, gun charges after traffic stop

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – A man faces drug and gun charges after a traffic stop Thursday evening in McCracken County.
Anthony D. Woods 46, of McCracken County faces charges of firearm enhanced trafficking in marijuana over eight ounces 2nd offense, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, disregarding a stop sign and failure to or improper signal.
On 05/16/2024 at approximately 530pm
McCracken County Sheriff’s detectives stopped a vehicle for traffic infractions in the 1200 block of Mallory Street in Paducah around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 16.
Detectives immediately noted the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
During the roadside investigation, detectives say they found more than 700 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, baggies, THC gummies and a loaded 9mm handgun.
Detectives also seized $1970 in US currency that is believed to be proceeds of illicit drug sales.
Woods was a convicted felon and unable to lawfully possess the handgun.
Woods also had a prior conviction for firearm-enhanced trafficking in marijuana making this a 2nd or subsequent offense.
Woods was arrested and take to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
