MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – All McCracken County Public Schools will be closed Friday, November 4 and Monday, November 7 due to the high rate of influenza cases among students and staff.

Student and staff attendance rates have declined each day this week due to confirmed flu cases and flu-like symptoms.

The declining attendance along with a shortage of available substitutes, has driven the decision to close school.

There also will be no classes on Tuesday, November 8 due to Election Day. Classes will resume Wednesday, November 9.

Friday and Monday will be treated as traditional days off from school like they would have for weather. Those two days will be made up according to the 2022-2023 instructional calendar so that learning can take place in-person for students and staff.

The closure will allow the custodial staff to thoroughly clean the buildings.

School leaders hope the break will give student and staff time to recover.
