McCracken County School District appoints new principal

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — The McCracken County School District has appointed Wes Newsome as principal of Concord Elementary School, effective July 1, 2025.
Newsome, a seasoned educator, brings experience in instructional leadership, student support and school culture transformation to his new role.
As assistant principal and dean of students at Paducah Middle School, Newsome fostered a positive learning environment for students and staff.
“Wes Newsome is a student-centered leader who brings passion and purpose to everything he does,” said Josh Hunt, superintendent of McCracken County Schools. “We’re excited to welcome him to Concord Elementary and confident he will inspire growth and excellence within the school community.”
Throughout his career, Newsome has restructured programs to improve school culture and climate, and implemented assessment systems that contributed to academic growth.
Newsome holds degrees from Murray State University, Northern Kentucky University and the University of the Cumberlands.
“I’m humbled, excited and appreciative to be selected as the next principal of Concord Elementary School,” Newsome said. “I look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence alongside the students, staff, parents and community of CES.”
