PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) — McCracken County Public Schools has announced Jon Reid as its next Chief Academic Officer, with the appointment set to take effect July 1.

Reid currently serves as Director of High School Instruction and brings more than two decades of experience in education to the role, including time spent as a teacher, instructional coach and school administrator.

He began his career teaching world civilization at Mayfield High School before continuing in the classroom at West Jessamine Middle School. In 2008, Reid transitioned into administration as assistant principal at Hendron-Lone Oak Elementary, where he worked in student discipline, testing coordination and instructional support.

Reid later served as assistant principal and instructional coach at Lone Oak High School, focusing on curriculum development and mentoring teachers. In 2011, he was named principal of Heath High School, where he led school improvement efforts and worked to strengthen school culture.

When McCracken County High School opened in 2013, Reid played a role in helping establish the school’s academic and operational foundation as an assistant principal. He went on to serve as principal of Hendron-Lone Oak Elementary beginning in 2014, where district leaders say he helped drive improvements in student achievement and foster a positive learning environment.

Since 2024, Reid has served as Director of High School Instruction, supporting school leaders and working to strengthen academic performance across the district’s secondary schools.

Superintendent Josh Hunt said Reid’s leadership, experience and ability to support both students and educators made him the right choice for the position.

As Chief Academic Officer, Reid will oversee curriculum, instructional programs and academic initiatives across the district.

Reid holds a master’s degree in administration and supervision from the University of Kentucky and a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Georgetown College.
