McCracken County Sheriff’s Office investigates alleged animal cruelty

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — Authorities are investigating allegations of animal cruelty after discovering 124 dogs living in poor conditions at a former veterinary clinic.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office began investigating on May 2, 2025, after receiving a tip about a large number of dogs at the closed Reidland Veterinary Clinic.

Deputies obtained a search warrant and found the dogs living without ventilation, electricity, heating or air conditioning. Most of the dogs were on carpet, surrounded by feces and urine.

Suzanne Alt, 66, of Woodlawn, Illinois, who was renting the building, was cited to court on 111 counts of inhumane treatment of animals.

The investigation is ongoing, led by the sheriff’s office animal cruelty investigator and McCracken County Animal Control.
