Memorial Day service at Cape Girardeau Osage Centre
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI)- The Cape Girardeau Joint Veterans Council hosts an annual Memorial Day Service at the Cape Girardeau Osage Centre May 29.
The service begins with the Cape Girardeau Municipal Band with Director, Mr. Neil Casey. The band performed multiple songs of patriotism to honor the veterans able to come to the service.
A presentation of colors from the Marine Corps League Det. 1081.
The National Anthem sang by Lisa Reitzel, and a posting of Unit Colors from JVC Member Organizations.
The guest speaker for the program, Lt. Colonel Matthew D. Dunn, USAF spoke on the importance of Memorial Day.
“Memorial Day is a somber day,” said Lt. Colonel Dunn. “But it’s also a day that we celebrate. We celebrate the heroism, the gallantry of our armed forces.”
