CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI)) – Mercy Cancer Center will host a free, family-friendly community health event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 11, at 789 S. Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau.
The event will feature free health screenings, demonstrations and educational resources from Mercy providers. The Cape Girardeau Fire Department will be on-site with fire trucks, safety information and an inflatable house. The American Red Cross will provide details about upcoming blood drives.
Additional activities include a photo booth, giveaways, face painting and appearances by Southeast Missouri State University’s Rowdy the Redhawk and the Cape Catfish’s Captain Catfish.
“Our goal with this event is simple: to encourage people to be proactive in their health and get the care they need when they need it,” said Simone Lampkin, director of Mercy Cancer Center and event organizer. “Early detection saves lives, and it often starts with a routine visit to a primary care provider. It’s one of the easiest and best things you can do for your future self.”
