Mercy Health Foundation Southeast announces annual Independence Day 5K

JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — Mercy Health Foundation Southeast is preparing for its annual Independence Day 5K on July 4 in Jackson, with proceeds benefiting the Mercy Children’s Wellness Fund.

The race will begin at 7:04 a.m. at Mercy Fitness Center – HealthPoint Jackson, located at 410 W. Main St.

Organizers said the event has been a Jackson tradition for more than 25 years and hope to attract more than 600 participants this year.

Events include a 5K run, 5K walk, Firecracker 1-Mile and a virtual run and walk option.

According to Mercy Health Foundation Southeast, proceeds from the event support programs focused on improving child health and pregnancy outcomes for low-income, first-time parents.

Childcare services will be available for participants on race day.

Participants can register online, by mail or in person at Mercy Fitness Center – HealthPoint Jackson. Organizers said participants who register by June 12 are guaranteed a race shirt in their preferred size.
