Mercy Southeast expands Orthopedic services with addition of Dr. Charles Roberson

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Patients in southeastern Missouri now have expanded access to surgical treatment for orthrasurgical treatment for orthopedic issues with the addition of orthopedic surgeon Charles Roberson, MD, at Mercy Southeast.
Dr. Roberson, an orthopedic surgeon trained in sports medicine, has joined Mercy Clinic Orthrasurgery, has joined Mercy Clinic Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at 650 S. Mount Auburn in Cape Girardeau. He will work alongside a team of physicians and nurse practitioners to provide specialized care to help patients regain mobility and return to their previous level of physical activity.
Orthopedic surgeons at Mercy Clinic offer a range of services, including:
Bone health assessments
Fracture care
Hip and knee services
Shoulder and elbow services
Sports-related treatments
According to Dr. Roberson, sports medicine encompasses more than just treating athletes. “I define a person’s ‘sport’ as activities they enjoy and that bring fulfillment to their life,” he said. “My goal is to help patients return to their sport, whatever that may be.”
Dr. Roberson earned his undergraduate degree at Morehouse College in Atlanta and completed medical school at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and his fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
As part of Mercy Southeast’s collaboration with Southeast Missouri State University, Dr. Roberson will provide care to student-athletes and performers.
“The opportunity to work with athletes at SEMO and offer orthopedic and sports medicine care to the people of Cape Girardeau and surrounding areas drew me to this position,” Dr. Roberson said.
